More details to follow.
“The Rose of the 4 winds” is a family-run retreat in the Itria valley in Puglia, surrounded by flower-filled meadows, ancient oaks and olive trees. Originally a monastery, then a farmhouse, La Rosa dei 4 Venti is now a sanctuary dedicated to hosting contemporary travellers who cross the whole world and retreat here rediscovering one’s own well-being.
The place is surrounded by silence, tranquillity and in the vibrant colours of the countryside. Every outdoor area is designed to give guests the opportunity to relax and connect with the charm of the place living a week of regeneration and in close contact with nature.
A sensitively restored ancient Masseria, has today become an elegant and charming retreat with 10 rooms sympathetically renovated using the local stone to ensure that the authentic and symbolic architecture of the original building is not lost. Therefore rooms are all different in shape and size, each room has its own special personality and unique style.
All dishes prepared at the retreat space embody a deep, intense, playful and especially joyful journey where their love for vegetables make it the great protagonist of the dishes, with all its colours, flavours and varieties.
This is accompanied with fresh pasta, bread, focaccia and pastries made with Senatore Cappelli flour, an antique Apulian grain also good for intolerance, fresh dairy products from local farms and fresh fish or meat.
The Itria Valley is at 450 meters above sea level and midway between the Adriatic and Ionian Sea, immersed in the quiet countryside of the Murgese.
The countryside is dotted with characteristic trulli, the typical peasant houses with the cone-shaped dome, is a riot of colors ranging from green oak woods, olive trees and vineyards, to the white of trulli and farms to the red soil of the countryside, framed within the dense network of characteristic dry-stone walls.
For these reasons, this valley is also called La Valle dei Trulli (The Trulli Valley) and includes cities like Alberobello The Trulli City, Ceglie Messapica and Cisternino the capitals of gastronomy, Locorotondo one of the most beautiful boroughs of Italy, Ostuni The white city and Martina Franca, the baroque capital town.
La Rosa dei 4 Venti is about 10 km from Martina Franca, believed to have been founded in the 10th century by refugees fleeing the Arab invasions of Taranto.
